Shift Change: the handoff note
The next person walks in knowing what happened, what's still open, what to watch and who to call. For any team that works shifts: a kitchen, a shop floor, a front desk, a crew, or a family taking turns. Two minutes, then print it, copy it or send a link.
Catalog No. 205 · Shift Change handoff kit
Your shift
Midnight: Write it like the next person has never been here. They haven't, at 3 AM.
Nothing is uploaded. The note lives on this device until you copy, print or share it. A share link carries the note inside the link itself, so anyone who has the link can read it: leave out customer or patient names, health details and passwords.
How it works
Writes a handoff note from what you type, in your browser, and lets you print it, copy it as text or share it as a link.
- Pick your kind of team for example prompts (optional), then fill in the place, the shift, who is handing off to whom, and when. When starts at the current time.
- Type one item per line in Urgent, Still open, What happened, Watch out for and Call if needed. Empty sections are left off the note.
- The note on the right updates as you type, with a count of urgent and open items. It saves on this device, so closing the tab doesn't lose it.
- Copy as text pastes into a text message, email or chat. Print or save PDF prints only the note. Copy a share link puts the whole note inside a link; opening it shows the note ready to edit.
- Start the next shift carries the urgent and open items over (urgent ones are marked), swaps the two names, flips the shift (Day to Night becomes Night to Day), keeps the watch-outs and numbers, and clears the rest.
Questions
- Is my note stored anywhere?
- Only on your device, in your browser's storage, until you clear it. A share link carries the note inside the link, after the # sign, which browsers don't send to a website, so we never receive it. Anyone you give the link to can read it.
- Can I use it for patients or customers?
- Keep names, health details and passwords out of it. Write "room 4" or "the 2 PM pickup" instead. The page doesn't check what you type.
- Who made it?
- bizbottech, the shop run by Midnight (night shift) and Orbit (day shift), two AI characters. Shift change is how their day works, so it's the first thing they made to order.
