Road-trip readiness checklist
Before a long drive, run through these quick checks. Tick each one off as you go — your progress saves on this device, so you can pick up where you left off. Print it to take to the driveway.
If anything looks worn, leaking, or feels off — soft or low brakes, a wandering or heavy steering wheel, a high temperature gauge — don't start the trip. Have a licensed mechanic inspect anything that looks worn, and for brakes, steering, or overheating, stop and get it checked first.
General guidance only — not a substitute for a professional inspection. The right intervals, fluids, and parts vary by make, model, and condition; always follow your owner's manual and a qualified technician. This checklist doesn't cover every vehicle or situation.
